Waldersbach Visit Last Fall

This is actually a "flashback" post from last fall. During our computer problems, I didn't get around to posting about our visit.

We've been to see them before, earlier in the year;

They're in Waldersbach where the dad's the Lutheran minister for that region. He actually has Jean-Frederic Oberlin's (1740-1826) post, the one the liberal arts college in Ohio is named after. Born in Strasbourg and died in Waldersbach, he's very famous in Alsace with a lot named after him.

I will add information as I get it to this specific post (especially after I get their feedback!)

James preaches at the very church where Oberlin did;

The view from the courtyard.

The front, looking east.

A very old tree in front.

Inside the church.

The benches are really basic.

This is a very James picture. The minister in his church (he hasn't been ordained that long and this is his first post).

Oberlin's predecessor (will get name, promise) lost his wife in this village. She died in childbirth as so many women in that era did. Beautiful headstone inside the church. I will try to rewrite and translate it when I get a moment (any volunteers?)

Heating system, not from Oberlin's era but it's been around awhile too!

What are Eric and Davina up to? This is their son with a neighbor boy and Talia behind. Ronnie is behind the pulpit.

Had to have a memorial to Oberlin;

His wife's stone (correct me if I'm wrong!)

View looking west.

After our history lesson, we all took a walk. This is an artist neighbor's house;

My kids with an old trough.

The kids went shrimp fishing. The shrimp are really small and the thrill is just to catch them, look at them and let them go again. Too small to eat!

Here are Eric and Talia, who used to be in the same class.
