The newest member of the family

Since Isaac died, we haven't had a pet until now. There has been much debate, basically me and the kids vs. Daniel.

To appease everyone, he went out and got a fish for Davina. Her name is Lulu. The kids wanted a bilingual name. I said it wasn't necessary since we're not taking her to the U.S. but they did pick it for that reason "So Mémé and Grandpa can say it".

We're actually not sure of the sex. Davina has already dropped the fish food. They're tiny pellets that go everywhere and hurt when you walk on them. We have to monitor feeding sessions now...

Caroline's civil wedding

I'm on the old computer so this is awkward, after being spoiled on the Mac.

Daniel's cousin is getting married. She is having a religious wedding in December in Israel but before moving over there, they had a civil wedding here in Strasbourg. Just to note, all marriages have to be done at City Hall first before any religious leader will preform a ceremony.

Technically, she didn't need to do it, since France recognizes marriages outside their borders if valid in the other country but it was an excuse to have a sort of going-away party for her. Plus, they arranged that a friend preform the ceremony. She works there and usually doesn't do marriages but since she had the authority, she made is all very personal.

Here is Samantha, my kids' cousin from Paris (almost 15) with Davina and their second cousin Rosalie on her lap. Rosalie fell asleep in Samatha's arms during the ceremony.


Daniel and I also got married in this building but in another room, which looked similar. Caroline wore a beautiful pink dress, that unfortunately, I didn't manage to snap a picture of. Well, there were enough of her anyway...

The official wore this band with the French colors and one of the groom's relatives children made a funny comment. He said to his parents "Look, Miss France came!"

We were glad that my mother-in-law could make it. She's now well enough to attend events during the day. This time, she didn't even need any help. Daniel and his sister were able to manage bringing her from Benfeld on their own, although they did bring the wheelchair, just as support (she no longer needs it when visiting us). I was also pleased that she was able to follow along and discuss it afterwards.

Here is Samantha surrounded by her littlier cousins. I'm not sure how Jo & Ro took to all the extra attention. They are technically my children's second cousins. Samatha and her brother (how did he escape this picture??) are each other's only first cousins.

Unfortunately, I had to keep the red eyes since I don't have the program to remove them on this computer.

I wanted to add another couple of pictures but Blogger puts them at the top of the post and I can't move them. Oh well.

This is a photo of the engagement party held two days later at the bride's home. I know, getting engaged after the civil wedding but it was just another excuse for a party! The bride looked beautiful.

Oh no, it's been so long!

Sorry for no updates. Our Mac has packed up. I'm now back to using our old PC. I hope that can get sorted.

I'm just simply less on the computer. We're finally on the All Saint's vacation and we've had family events virtually every day. Finally that's over, leaving us just a few days to relax before school gets started again.

We bought some Ikea shelves and we put them up to make more space. Maybe finally I'll do the "house video" I've been promising for so long! My "office" was such a mess, I didn't want to show it.

The idea is that I walk through the house to show it off.

The fall colors are beautiful this year and it's actually quite warm-16C today here.

I sent my ballot in for the U.S. Midterm elections back home.
