Well, to be honest, it wasn't a success. She claimed she asked to go home and they refused to let her contact us. She threw up the first night. I guess I have to address that after vacation...
The first night she came back, she was very clingy and upset. She kept having nightmares. Now she seems back to normal but she keeps saying "I didn't want to go..." I wouldn't have forced her but I think she was on the fence. Oh well...we tried...
Last night at the dinner table, the kids were asking Daniel questions.
"Was your dad Jewish too? and your mom? and all your grandparents??"
"Were you married before? Mamie, did she ever have another husband?" etc.
When Daniel told them that there were NO DIVORCES in his family EVER, they nearly fainted with shock.
They then started listing all the divorced kids they know at school.
I looked at Daniel and said "They're my kids, aren't they??"
I finally met the Rabbi at the Liberal Community. It's so small that they have to share the rabbi with Toulouse. Kind of sad huh?

But he was nice and talked in an engaging manner. Last night, he met with all the Talmud Torah children. He basically summed up the whole Torah in an hour, asking the kids questions.
During his talk, Ronnie got up to use the restroom, which unfortunately, was *right there*. To my horror, he left the door open! We could hear everything!! Remember, this is the same kid who jumped up on the platform during services in Lingosheim and started bobbing his head in imitation of the rabbi davening, but with his bottle!
Afterwards I asked him why he forgot to close the door. He said he did it on purpose "...so I could still hear the Rabbi..." Oh.
We are on vacation and I'm taking the kids to see Sophie this weekend. It'll be four nights. I booked the hotel but have not yet bought the train tickets so hope that works out. We'll be there Feb. 14-18th.
