Talia has survived her first individual competition. She came in 4th but she was promoted to the next category of competition. This has nothing to do with placement. They sent 5 girls up based on their ability, not how they did in this specific competition. Above is the starting pose and below is the ending.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find the embedding code for the video but here's the link.

Here is the rewards ceremony. It was quite different than that for the groups. Fewer girls and all different get-up's.
Talia and both the other girls from her club in her category were sent up. This was really a surprise. Even having one girl go is a big deal. This now affects their group. The rules are that with three in the higher category, the whole group must now compete at this level too. That means changing their whole routine and music and schedule...
Of course, competing at a national level means that there is little chance of standing on a podium. She will be up against girls in the sports-study program who do 14-15 hours a week. Talia does 7 which includes team work (which the sports-study girls don't do). I'm just focusing on how fun it will be just being at these meets, which will have the best gymnasts in France. We're going for personal goals and a positive experience, if not a ribbon and trophy.
